The Vennie Dispatch: October 2026

a field report from the organized chaos of my creative space…

🌃Opening Transmission

🎃👻🦇 October Note: My favorite month has finally arrived with all its witchy wonder. Some people drive around to look at Christmas lights. I drive around to see all the wicked ways people spruce up their yards with creepy corpses, spooky cats and fog machines for Halloween.

💁‍♀️On Support

Being an independent creative means learning to keep going through uncertain months. Some months, I manage to save a little; in others, I’m counting quarters for gas and stretching what’s left in the grocery budget. Birthdays may call for homemade gifts, but the need to create never disappears.

That’s why your support means so much. If my work has moved you, made you think, or brought something meaningful into your life, please consider making a donation. Every contribution helps me keep creating and sharing my work. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who chooses to support independent artists and writers like me. You help keep this work alive.

🎯My Target Focus

  • I’m continuing to care for my health as I work with an autoimmune disorder and elevated inflammation markers. Rest and a simple diet of beans, vegetables, and berries have become part of that care. I’m reminding myself that I have every right to treat my body with patience and gentleness.
  • I’ve stepped back from social media spaces that no longer support my growth or well-being. At a time when my health needs to come first, leaving environments that feel toxic has become an important part of taking care of myself.

Before You Go

I want to leave you with a few words of encouragement. Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to face it alone. I won’t tell you to soften it, keep your eyes on the light or lean on the other familiar phrases that show up in memes and self-help books. Struggle is real, and it deserves to be acknowledged, not minimized or covered over with pretty words.

If you can, write down what you’re holding in. It doesn’t have to be polished; even a few fragments or a single line on the page can give the pain somewhere to go. Find a way to make it tangible, something you can set outside yourself for a moment. These days can feel dark, endless, and heavy. I know you’re doing the best you can, and I’m proud of you for continuing to move through them.

With so much love,
