🌃Opening Transmission
🎋🍃 August Note: Summer is making a quick exit. It has moved fast this year; too fast. I can’t believe we’re only a month from the school bells calling the children back, and from routines snapping into place again. Fall is already waiting just past the horizon, ready to arrive in her golden display of a dying summer, and blink, she’ll be here before we’re ready.
Throwback to this post from one year ago.

I want to draw your attention to three pieces this month. We’re living in a deep season of disinformation, which makes it more important than ever to stay attuned to the signs of adverse behavior in the people and communities around us. It’s also a time for trauma survivors to turn inward, to keep processing the deep shadow work that doesn’t finish itself in one pass. I hope you’ll take the time to sit and absorb these three.

This has been a year of living on the edge. I won’t dress that up. I’ve been readjusting, and restructuring, my business, my financial life, and the whole architecture of how I survive as someone who independently creates for a living. Some months the ground felt steady. Others, I wasn’t sure it would hold the weight of this life.
What’s carried me through isn’t luck. It’s gratitude, practiced daily, and honestly, sometimes forced when it didn’t come naturally to me. I wake up and think of the people who pause and take a second between the scrolling and the next thing; who understand what it actually means to be an independent creator. That the work doesn’t exist without you. That there’s no publisher cushioning the gap, and no steady salary underneath the writing. Just this, and whoever decides it’s all worth showing up for.
If you’ve taken something from my work this year, any comfort, recognition, or a reason to keep going yourself, I’m asking you to consider giving something back. Not because you owe it, but because independent work survives on exactly this: people who understand what it costs to keep making it.
Thank you to the ones who pause.

🎯My Target Focus
- I am in full editing mode for Anatomy of the Dark Empath. I can’t wait to share this book and workbook with you.
- I’m conquering an eating disorder that has plagued me for a very long time. I’m writing my way through this, and perhaps this journey will produce another book. Meanwhile, I journal through the process.
- I am taking as much time down as possible to enjoy the summer, my family, and continue embracing the art of very slow living for the sake of my nervous system health.
Before You Go
Wherever you are reading this, on a porch, in a waiting room, or in the last quiet minutes before sleep, I want you to know something: you are allowed to be a work in progress, and also still be whole. Those two things can live together more peacefully than we’re taught.
August is going to ask some things of you. Let it, but don’t forget to notice the small miracles hiding in the ordinary moments, like the way light changes in a room, the sound of your own laugh when it surprises you, and the fact that you’re still here becoming. That’s everything.
Keep going gently, softly and slowly. And when the world feels too loud and uncertain, remember that you don’t have to have it all figured out to be worthy of the good things that are arriving.
I’ll see you next month.
With so much love,
