As I reminisce on the past thirty years I’ve spent on social media, the most rewarding growth I’ve experienced across all of these evolving years has been rooted in the connections I’ve made with fellow trauma survivors.
I’ve traveled many roads in this arena, from the anti-cult conference circuit to being a podcast guest, and even hosting my own Survivor Voices podcast. It has been filled with many spurts of rapid growth as I’ve moved forward in both my work and my writing.
I am proud to look back. Proud of where I have come from, and proud of where I stand today. There have been many trials along the way, but far more expansion and goodness than I ever could have asked for.
Adeena Blumenfield’s story is a testament to bravery and resilience. I am deeply grateful for everyone throughout the years who has trusted me with their difficult truths; who chose to be vulnerable in ways that take enormous courage. Even as I move into new phases of life, I carry pieces of each of them with me.
Read Adeena’s Story:
The individuals who shared their lives with me on Survivor Voices left a piece of themselves with me forever. Their stories were raw and deep, and I was simply a fish out of water, running a solo podcast as best I could while simultaneously processing my own trauma. And somehow, it all came together. It had its season. And it carries immense worth.
These stories aren’t easy to listen to. Are they ever? And yet an invisible thread held us together each time, drawing us into a connective embrace as we shared in the most honest and vulnerable ways we could.
