Poetry Lights is an exclusive, yearly magazine featuring independent poets. We believe in spotlighting the best of the work that we receive. Poetry Lights is published December of each year.
Global submissions are now open and will be closed August 31, 2023.
Submit unpublished work only. Do not send us work that has appeared elsewhere on the internet or in print. If after submitting your work, it is accepted elsewhere please inform us immediately.
Send us no more than three poems, pasted in the body of your email. Please include a short bio written in the third person.
Please indicate POETRY SUBMISSION on your subject line. Submissions without “Poetry Submission” in the subject line will be deleted unread.
We aim to respond to all submissions within ten (10) days of receipt.
You may only submit once a year.
Submissions must be in English
If your work is accepted at Poetry Lights, you agree to grant us First North American Serial Rights, all archival rights, plus the rights to reprint in any future anthologies. Upon publication all rights revert back to the author. You agree that if your poem/s subsequently appears elsewhere (in print or online), you will give due credit to Poetry Lights.
We want impactful poems that create a brush across all of our senses. We want strong imagery and emotion. Send us something new and different. We love to write outside of the box. Tell us the deepest part of your heart, your experiences, your observations, all painted through your words.
We do not accept HORROR, GORE, EROTICA or otherwise GRAPHIC literature.
Established and new poets are encouraged to submit. Your poem should fit on one page with a 12 font.
Submissions that ignore these guidelines (or parts of these guidelines) will likely be declined immediately.
Our guidelines are subject to change. We suggest reviewing them AGAIN prior to submitting.
